I watched this piece about the “Afgan Girl” on the National Geographic Channel a couple of months back and I was struck by those beautiful yet haunting green eyes. Long story short, in 1985 the National Geographic Magazine clicked this childhood photo of her and it went on their magazine cover. She became a symbol of the state of Afgan women and chidren. But amidst this fame, NG reporters couldn’t trace this girl since then. And finally after 17 years they found this mysterious girl, who is a grown woman with children of her own now.
